Get your 1st Serve

The Tennis Manitoba “1st Serve” magazine has been out for a little while. However, if you haven't got your hands on a copy, then you can review the online version posted on the Tennis Manitoba web site.

Tennis Manitoba would like to be in the position of mailing future issues directly to individuals who are registered Tennis Manitoba members. Fu Wins Two Titles at Kids Dental

Patrick Fu dominated match play at the 2012 Kids Dental Junior Open, winning both the Boys U14 and U16 singles championships. The annual tournament took place this past weekend at the Winnipeg Winter Club and was a qualifying event used for selection to the 2012 Rogers Junior National Championships for junior players residing in Manitoba. 

Championship results were as follows:

U10 Co-Ed Singles: Sahand Marzban won the round robin

Girls Singles
U12: Mackenzie Miller def. Christiana Cholakis 3-6, 6-3, 10-2
U14: Chantel Wallack def. Hannah Blatt 6-4, 6-4
U18:  Kylie Waschuk won the round robin

Boys Singles
U12: Daniel Gharagozloo def. David Krowiak 6-0, 6-0
U14: Patrick Fu def. David Krowiak 6-0, 6-0
U16: Patrick Fu def. Connor Davies 6-2, 6-1
U18: Kevin Kylar def. Shance Nicholls 6-0, 6-0

Boys Doubles

Evann Waschuk joins Bellarmine Knights as they kick off 2012 season


The tennis season starts this weekend for several Manitoba college students. Transferring from the University of Manitoba, Evann Waschuk begins her college tennis career with Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. She joins fellow Winnipegers Alan Gardiner and Igal Mostkov, who joined the Knights tennis program in the fall of 2011.
